In a few weeks, we will be traveling to SoulLink, a big youth rally in Houston that our teens have come to love.  When we get there, we’ll get to see Josh Kasinger (and his new baby!) as well as lots of other folks.

If you’re a teen, I NEED you to confirm with me exactly who is coming.  Seriously guys, I’ve only got one person who has paid so far.

It’s that time again.  Our Fall Retreat is coming up quickly, and we’re all set to go.  All we need now is for your participation.  We’ve talked about it off and on, and it’s been on the calendar, the whiteboard, the committee meeting agenda for several months.  Now it’s time to make it happen.

Students

I need you to clear your schedules, pack your bags, and get ready for a fun weekend.  Invite your friends, but keep me in the loop on how many are coming.  If 50 kids show up, we’ll have issues; just let me know.  I’ll need you to let me know next Sunday if you’re going to be able to go.  I need your money on the following Sunday, October 4, 2009.  (October 5^th is when I have to give final numbers to the retreat people).

You will be fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday; breakfast and lunch on Sunday.  There will be nothing to eat on Friday, eat before you come!

Parents

I need you to sign the attached medical release form.   Even if your student can’t go, the release form would still be nice to have…   The cost is $50, but if that is an issue – there are some members that have already committed to help pay the way.  We don’t want anyone to miss this opportunity.

I still need parents to come with us for the retreat.  We can’t have a retreat without parents…  let me know if you can help drive us to/from the retreat center or even better if you can stay with us.  Do not assume that someone else has already volunteered.  We still have empty spots.

This is going to be a fun weekend.  The usual rules apply, but for this weekend – I don’t want to see any cellphones.  I’m not going to explicitly forbid them, but if I catch you using a phone during a session or any other time that isn’t appropriate then I’m going to take away until we get back to the church.  If you are expecting a call or something, talk to me.

Last weekend, we had our Summer Lockin, and that was a blast.  Our theme was Lost & Found, and somehow or another about 900 forks found their way into the preacher’s front yard…  The pictures will be posted soon.

Next month we will be going to a Children’s Hospital.  Also, Marie sent us some more photos from Work Camp – so check it out!

Also, this week begins our new Summer schedule.  We will be helping with the 252 Basics program for the young’ins on Sunday morning, followed by a short devo time.  Sunday evenings, we will be having a more in-depth study time.  Thursday evenings (and Tuesdays in July) will be for fun activities that you are encouraged to bring your friends to.  This will be a great summer, if you have any ideas on how to make it even better- let us know!

Coming up this July 4th, the youth will be hosting a dunk tank booth as a fund raiser.  Church members will be able to vote on who they would like to see in the tank by going to sacocyouth.org/july4.  You will be able to vote through June 28th.

We will also need some volunteers to help set things up and tear them back down for any fundraisers we decide to run.
